This clinical training programme serves to upskill health care professionals to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent the spread of uncomplicated Multi Drug Resistant TB (MDR TB) to reduce MDR TB deaths and disease. This will be done by upgrading the skills of professional nurses in South Africa in the diagnosing, treatment and management and prevention of DR TB.
Upon completing this course, participants should be able to:
To qualify for the certificate of completion for this short course, participants should successfully complete the assessment process
Professional Nurses working in TB and HIV/AIDS units, Pharmacists, Medical Officers & Clinical Associates.
The course is offered using participatory methods and building on shared knowledge with the participants. The training consists of 5 didactic and mentorship training that will be done in a MDRTB hospital.
Additional materials which would assist participants in diagnosing and managing HIV related conditions will also be provided. National guidelines will be distributed whenever they are available.
